MAPS

We have so many maps that the idea of showing each one on this web site is daunting.  Some are quite large, and have to be scanned on a large-scale scanner, which is done off-site.  For the present, until we can seize control of our huge map collection, please read the descriptions below, check the list, and email us for more specific information.  Each map is available beautifully reproduced on quality paper, and can be tastefully framed to match the décor of your office or den. Bookmark us, and keep checking back!

Maps of Erie County, New York, 1880

These maps are from The 1880 Illustrated Historical Atlas of Erie County.  They are from actual surveys and records, published by FW Beers and Company, New York City, New York.  Each township, town, and village is shown.  They show the lots, acreage, and ownership; the creeks, the mills, the millponds, millraces, and dams.  They show the names and structures of old roads.  Fascinating stuff for history buffs.  Email us for more information.

World, Country, and State Maps, 1886

These maps are from The 1886 Family Atlas of the World, and show each state of the United States, and each country of the world as it was in 1886.  It shows Oklahoma and much of the Southwest as Indian Territory, and the areas marked as tribal lands.  These would be good for stamp collectors and postal history buffs, among others.  It was published by WH Stewart and Company, Rochester, New York.  Email us for more information.

Buffalo Plates, City of Buffalo, New York, 1880

These highly detailed plates show the entire city of Buffalo in 1880.  There are over thirty plates, each one measuring 17 x 27 inches, with a scale of 1 inch equals 175 feet.  They show the wards, all railroad lines, government buildings, business, manufacturers, shipping canals, Buffalo Harbor, water, sewer, and hydrant locations.  Each building is differentiated by red for brick and stone, and yellow for wooden structures.  Outbuildings, such as garages, sheds, and chicken coops are marked with an “X.”  The detail is incredible!  Email us for more information.

Maps of Allegany County, New York, 1869

These maps are some of the oldest maps we have, and are from the 1869 Atlas of Allegany County, New York.  They are taken from actual surveys and official records.  They are of towns and townships, and show all the property owners at that time, which include hotels, merchants, and manufacturers. Great for the study of genealogy.  It was published by DG Beers and Company, New York City, New York.  Email us for more information.

NOTE:  The pictures on the web pages are not as clear as the actual product.  We reduced the file size to make to pages load faster, and lost some of the detail.  The actual pictures are crystal clear.  If there is a message on the cards that is hard to make out on the web page, we tried to write it in the description.  Email us for additional clarification.
